The Benefits of Meditation

In my experience, meditation is the most powerful and effective way to achieve deep relaxation. Meditation is preventative medicine at its best. It has been practised for thousands of years in different cultures and religions as a way of reaching new levels of consciousness. Fortunately, meditation is becoming trendy again, and classes are popping up everywhere

Meditation can be tricky to master because the mind tends to wander. The secret to success is not to get cross and frustrated with yourself. Instead, just gently keep bringing your mind back into the room and focus again on your breath. The groundwork is worth the time and effort because once you’ve mastered meditation, it’s relatively easy to slip into that state of deep relaxation and expanded consciousness.

Choose a time when you’re unlikely to be disturbed. A warm environment with low lighting promotes physical relaxation. Sit or lie in a comfortable, open position. Bring your attention into the room and focus on your body and on your breath. Correct breathing is essential for relaxation. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Try to make your out-breath a little longer than your in-breath.
